Now Introducing...Katrina Wahlquist!

Welcome! To my new (and for the most part first) blog! My name is Katrina Wahlquist, and all though I have been married for about six months now, the last name still feels pretty new to me. I really enjoy writing, but have never been one too attracted to the idea of writing about myself on the internet, assuming someone else might actually enjoy it; but since I have now been working for a company for almost nine months that is centered around websites, social media, marketing and blogging, the idea is not quite so frightening.

My hilarious husband's name is Tyler (btw)

Any waaays...Part of the reason I actually decided to write this blog is because of something that has been on my mind for a while (and the majority of women's minds as well)...weight loss. Specifically, my own weight loss. Growing up, I was a slim, athletic and active child. I played softball, basketball, swimming, tennis, volleyball, and most of all, soccer. It can be said that I have played soccer most of my life, but the last time I was really on a team was in 2008 at Southern Virginia University (2008 USCAA National Champions baby!!!) ... during which time I sprained my ankle towards the end of the season.

I am standing almost in the middle there, #18 :)

So there are actually a few different things I have on mind in which I would eventually like to talk about  in this blog, but for now mainly focusing on how I am trying to get back to the weight and health that I once had. Back in high school and in my soccer playing days, I was around 120 lbs at 5'5" and back then I never considered myself that skinny; but now I only wish I could be that healthy and active again. About a year (maybe two) ago was when my weight (for possible reasons I will discuss in future posts) went up to 150 lbs (sometimes 160). Since then I have tried different ways (off and on) to lose that weight, but only recently do I really feel I may be achieving some success. So for a contrast picture, here is me and Tyler in early 2012 (somewhere between 120 and 130 lbs); and then me with Tyler this past weekend at my sister-in-law's (Darci's) baby shower.

I know people say you are your own biggest critic, but I think most of you may agree that there is a significant difference. I feel I am still way too young to be already missing the way "I used to be."

But I shall save my weight woes for future posts. Just to give a preview of what else I may decide to talk about in future blog posts, here is a picture of my Siberian Husky, Kandy. Also introducing, Miss Evil.

This is Miss E (or Miss Evil), and yes, she does know
she is adorable.
Introducing Kandy, my beautiful Siberian Husky. And no,
nothing is wrong with her eyes. One is blue and the other is
brown.

WARNING: Another issue I will be discussing in my blog posts is my PCOS, or, Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. I have not mentioned this to many people and some of my really good friends may still be unaware until they read this blog post. I was diagnosed with PCOS this past October. All though I do not feel it is as serious as it sounds, I am beginning to feel it may be beneficial for me to discuss it more openly with the people of the web in hopes of perhaps getting some more clarity on the subject. Because it does involve the discussion of the female reproductive system, I will try to remember to give some sort of heads up at the beginning of the post for the men, children, or anyone else who fears they may be grossed out by that kind of thing. :)

I am actually surprised that I have so much that I look forward to writing about. I just hope that someone may enjoy it half as much as I do. :) My next blog post will be more about reasons for wanting to lose weight, as well as some of the things I have tried so far and why it is my own personal struggle (life everyone else's). So, if this post has made you at all interested, stay tuned!
